This is a sublime pair of antique French Art Nouveau cherubic children busts dating around 1900. They are made of terracotta and are painted in exquisite detail. They would be divine incorporated into any number of interiors projects - imagine how heavenly they would be above a bed as part of a ciel de lit?
They are a girl and a boy. They both have beautiful blue eyes and chuckling mouths with just a hint of baby teeth. The boy has lovely curly hair and the girl has her's tied in a chignon. Around their heads are beautiful flowers and tendrils.
The final finishing touch to these heavenly twins is a fabulous collar of plumptious feathers - gorgeous!
The paint on the busts has mellowed over the years to wonderous subtle sepia tones. It has acquired a lovely atmospheric patina with some crazing and one or two chips which just adds character to these exceptional pieces.
On the back of each bust is a substantial metal loop for hanging purposes.
The girl measures approx. 15 cm ( 6 inches) high x 14 cm (5.5 inches) wide x 10 cm (4 inches) deep.
An exceptional pair of busts to add a dreamy Art Nouveau finishing touch. They are from a carefully selected collection of decorative antique French pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'!
