This is a superb pair of antique French gilded metal curtain tie / hold backs dating from the 1800's. They would certainly add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a curtain ensemble.

The fascia of the hook has a gorgeous plumptious 3 feather plumed crest. The back plate has a shell crest and is extensively decorated with scrolled  acanthus leaf detail.

The gilding on the metal has subtly mellowed and patinated over the years to a lovely old gold hue.

The hold backs are substantial pieces with good weight. They have a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging them on a hook. There is also a hole to take a screw.

They measure approx :- H 14 cm (5.5 inches) x W 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) x D 10 cm (4 inches).
