B1655 - SOLDThis is a stunning antique French spelter candlestick dating from the 19th Century. It probably came from a church. It would have originally been gilded but this has now mellowed to a dark hue to give us this wonderful, dramatic architectural piece. The candlestick has 3 sturdy decorative feet. Above the feet is a circular leafed plinth upon which a gorgeous winged angel sits. Behind the angel a 'Tree of Live' grows upwards to support the leafed candle holder and bobeche - just fabulous! The leaves retain some of the original gilding to form a contrast with the rest of the piece. The candestick measures :- 30 cm (11.75 inches) high x 16 cm (6.25 inches) wide at the base. A stunning candlestick to make an architectural statement. It is from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
