B1695 - SOLDThis is a divine antique French religious diorama dating from the Napoleon III era circa 1860. It would make a stunning addition to a religious display or could perhaps just be enjoyed for it's beauty. The diorama features a fabulous central, plumptiously padded, sacred burning heart covered in silk now faded with the passage of time to a sublime shade of pink. On the cushion of the heart are the intertwined letters A & M and coming out of the top of the heart is a beautiful Fleur de Lys. Both these are decoupaged using a fabulous metallic silver textile. All this splendour sits on a breathtaking gold metallic sunburst and is framed by a frieze of tiny gold metallic cut out flowers - just gorgeous. A glass dome covers this incredible workmanship. The glass sits in a brass frame and a metal plate forms the back of the diorama. There is a metal loop for hanging on a wall. The diorama measures :- 19.5 cm (7.75 inches) high x 14.75 cm (5.75 inches) wide. This exquisite diorama is from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French religious & decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
