B1703 - SOLDThis is a gorgeous antique French Art Nouveau plaster bust dating from about 1900. It would look superb, perhaps on a mantelpiece or on a sidetable. The subject is a beautiful girl. She has dreamy eyes and a gentle blush to her cheeks. Her hair falls around her face and is pulled into a soft chignon at the nape of her neck. She sits on a lovely base in an atmospheric dark hue which merges into a sublime shade of green on her back. Growing up the front of the base are two fabulous purple lilies which wends their way upwards to protect our lady's modesty. There is a metal plaque on the front of the base entitled 'LYS' and there is a signature to the side. We have left the bust as we found her. She is in good antique condition with just a little distressing to the paint (please see photos). She measures :- 38.5 cm (15.25 inches) high x 27.5 cm (10.9 inches) wide x 15 cm (6 inches) deep. This is a gorgeous bust to add an authentic antique French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
