B1826 - SOLDThis is a beautiful pair of long antique French Cornely lace & appliqué curtains dating around 1900. They would be the perfect finishing touch to a château window. The textile is a soft tulle. The sides and bottom are scalloped and there is a tape to the top. The design is composed of 3 central flowers above which is a bow crest with descending swagged flower garlands, and below which is another bow with scrollwork and further flower garlands - just lovely. The design is defined in chain stitch embroidery with appliqué infill in a very delicate fine textile. The embroidery and appliqué are in antique white which looks superb against the very pale cream of the tulle. The curtains are as we found them. They had been laundered and are in good serviceable antique condition. However not surprisingly, considering the delicacy of the textile and it's age there are some characteristics. The fine appliqué textile and the curtain edges have worn and fluffed a little in places and there are some pin prick holes (please view all the photos). In our opinion these minor characteristics of the last 100 years or so in no way detract from the beauty of these wonderful curtains. Each curtain measures :- 258 cm (8 ft 5.5 inches) long x 43 cm (1 ft 4.9 inches) wide. A divine pair of antique French lace curtains to add an authentic château chic finishing touch and another gorgeous antique textile find from La Belle Étoffe. Please note that the clips we have used to display the curtains are not included. Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo. SOLD
