B1881 - SOLDThis beautiful antique French pediment would originally have come from an armoire or a mirror and dates from the 1800's. It would look stunning over a doorway or as a centre piece on a curtain pelmet. Fixed above a bed it could form part of a ciel de lit from which to drape curtains. The pediment is made of gilded spelter. It has a beautiful central bow crest from each side of which a gorgeous rose garland swags and drops. Beneath the bow, in a central ring is the figure of the head of a child or cherub with curly hair - just charming. The gilding has mellowed over the years to a lovely antique hue. There are 6 holes in the mount for attaching to a wall. The mount is in good antique condition. The drop on the left hand swag is not quite vertical but there is no sign of damage or weakness to the metal and it must have been made as such. The mount measures:- 32.5 cm (12.75 inches) wide x 10 cm (3.9 inches) high. This is a stunning antique architectural pediment to add a château chic finishing touch to an interior. It is from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.
