B2026 - Fantastic Antique French Marriage / Wedding Stand & Vitrine, Glass Armoire, 19th CenturyThis fantastic antique French marriage stand in it's original glass vitrine dates from the Napoleon III period C1860. These stands were used to display keepsakes from a wedding and this one has it's original bridal couronne & flowers from the bouquet. The focal point of the stand is the plump red padded velvet cushion upon which the wax bud wedding couronne & flowers sit. Above the cushion is a central diamond shaped mirror around which are gilded toleware flowers and leaves. A stunning toleware hirondelle with a flower garland wreath in it's beak crowns this amazing confection. Beneath the velvet cushion, which sits in a toleware crown is a rectangular mirror also surrounded by further toleware flowers and leaves. The marriage stand sits upon a wire base in it's original glass vitrine. The vitrine has obscured glass to the back and base and clear glass to the sides & door. The top is also made in clear glass and is domed. The vitrine sits on 4 elegant gilded feet. The frame of the vitrine is made in finely worked gilded metal. The door is hinged and has two clasps. Above the door is a toleware pediment with a crest and scrolls to both sides. The marriage stand and it's vitrine have survived the years in good antique condition. The vitrine measures:- 37.75 cm (14.8 inches) high x 21.5 cm (8.5 inches) wide x 14.5 cm (5.7 inches) deep.
