This is an impressive pair of two armed antique French candle wall sconces in the Empire style and dating from about 1900. They would certainly add flickering candlelit atmosphere to a château chic interior.

They are large and substantial. The backplate has a double handled urn crest. The two arms branch out from the backplate on acanthus leaf scrolls. The candle cups sit on decorative bobeche.

There is a slot on the back of each sconce for hanging on a wall.

The sconces are very sturdy with good weight. The gilding has patinated to a dramatic antique hue.

Each sconce measures  :- 40.5 cm (15.9 inches) high x 26.5 cm (10.4 inches) wide x approx 10 cm (4 inches) deep.
