B582 - SOLD

This is an exquisite antique French lace and linen tablecloth / bed throw dating from about 1850. It would have been made by nuns as a commission from a wealthy family for a bride's trousseau.

The lacework and linen are of the highest quality. The linen is so fine it is almost transparent and the drawn thread work of the lace is like gossamer.

Despite it's delicate appearance the piece has good weight and drapes beautifully.

Originally made for a bed or table it would now also make the most divine curtain.

The tablecloth is clean and fresh and it's colour is a lovely soft white.

It has survived the years in fantastic condition. The panels of lace are all intact and the linen has no holes. There are one or two tiny places where the stitching joining the linen and lace has come undone and may benefit from a quick stitch.

The throw measures :- 200 cm (6 ft 6.75 inches) x 200 cm (6ft 6.75 inches)

A divine antique French throw to add a très jolie touch to a bed, a table or a window and another fabulous antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
