B707 - SOLD
This is the most exquisite antique French bronze winged cherub statue dating from the 19th Century. It is of superb quality and would add an authentic château chic finishing touch to any home.
The cherub stands on a marble base and holds a beautiful bevelled mirror aloft.
The casting of the bronze is such that all the beautiful details of the cherub can be fully appreciated. He has a gorgeous head of curly hair and the sweetest face. Behind him two tiny feathered wings flutter and his tiny little fingers gently cradle the mirror. A gorgeous rippling ribbon garland protects his modesty.
At his feet are flowers and he stands on a wonderful scrolled and curled acanthus leaf base which is supported by the marble plinth.
The mirror held by the cherub is absolutely gorgeous. It has a swirling acanthus leaf frame with a central acanthus leaf and rose crest. The plate is bevelled and has a tiny bit of foxing as one would expect.
The silvering on the bronze has mellowed over the years to a palette of subtle greys with rosy highlights.
The stautue measures 36 cm (14 inches) high x 10.5 cm (4 inches) wide x 10.5 cm (4 inches) deep.
A gorgeous cherub statue with the added bonus of a mirror and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
