This is an exquisite antique French marriage globe / casket complete with it's couronne dating from the 1800's. It is just gorgeous.
The casket is made of wood and has a domed glass front and an oval glass window to either side. It has a repoussé toleware trim with a decorative roses design. Each of the roses is tinted red. The casket sits on cute repoussé feet.
The interior of the casket is lined with a delicious pink velvet and there is a pink velvet and satin cushion upon which the couronne sits. The cushion is buttoned with little gold flowers.
The couronne is beautiful. It has a faux pearl band and a plethora of pearlised flowers. There are loops of faux pearls with the most amazing 'cobweb' effect worked in silk. Within the casket are large paper lilies and other smaller flowers.
The back of the casket lifts down to allow us to see a little more of the treasure within. The back panel has a little mirror and is covered with satin and pink velvet ribbon.
We have not attempted to remove or disturb any of the contents of the casket as everything looks perfect as it is. The couronne however could be removed and worn.
The casket and it's contents are in lovely condition. There is just a little dust on the inside of the glass.
The casket measures :- 25.5 cm (10 inches) high x 23.5 cm (9.25 inches) wide x 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) deep
A gorgeous casket to add a château chic touch to a boudoir and a beautiful couronne for a bride to wear.
