This is a gorgeous pair of vintage French château curtains dating from the 1950's. They are long and wide and drape beautifully. They would be superb for a boudoir or an elegant salon.
They are made from an excellent quality cotton fabric which has good weight and is lovely and crisp. It has a joyous and lively design with an abundance of flower garlands entwined with blue ribbon.
The colours are bright and beautiful and have not faded with the passage of time. They are vibrant shades of pink, yellow, orange, purple, blue and green which contrast perfectly with the pale cream background.
The meeting edges and the bottoms of the curtains are trimmed with a gorgeous pink bobble passementerie.
The curtains are beautifully made and are lined. The top of each curtain has a vintage header tape onto which hooks could be sewn or pinned through. If a ruched effect was required a suitable tape could be sewn on.
The curtains are in excellent vintage condition and are fresh and crisp. On one of the corners at the top of each curtain is a cleaning ticket, probably from some time passed but it looks like the curtains have not been used since. The tops of the curtains have darkened a little over the years and there are one or two minor marks not removed during the cleaning (see photos) but these blend into the design.
Each curtain measures :- 280 cm (9 ft 2 inches) long x 175 cm (5 ft 9 inches) wide.
A gorgeous pair of curtains to add an authentic vintage French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
N.B. Any curtain accessories that we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated.
