B957a - Delightful Pair Vintage French Toile Curtains, 19th C Seaside Scenes
This is a delightful pair of long vintage French curtains made in cotton toile with a charming 19th Century seaside scenes design. They are full of life and would be a light and airy finishing touch to a window. We also have another, slightly shorter, wider pair of these, B957b, please see our other listings.
Within the design of the toile are many vignettes depicting children in 19th Century costume. They are involved in every seaside activity imaginable. They are rockpooling, fishing, boating and generally having a whale of a time. The detail is fabulous, see the gorgeous beach pavilion.
The vignettes are in a beautiful shade of ochre which looks superb against the white background and adds to the fresh appearance of these lovely curtains.
The curtains have been hung previously but look almost new. The textile is fresh and crisp. They are lined and have a modern header tape with cords to pull to adjust the ruching as required. There are a couple of minor marks on the bottom of one of the linings (see pics).
Each curtain measures :- 245 cm (8 ft) long x 125 cm (4 ft 1 inch) wide at the bottom and is currently ruched to 75 cm (2 ft 5.5 inches) along the top.
A gorgeous pair of curtains to add a charming vintage French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
N.B. Any curtain accessories that we have used to display the curtains are not included unless otherwise stated.
