B1673 - Gorgeous Antique French Toleware Scallop Shell, Coquille St Jaques Dish On Stand

This is a gorgeous antique French toleware dish dating from the 1800's. It would make the most spectacular soap dish and also be superb for bon bons on a side table or jewellery in a boudoir.

The bowl is of lovely quality. It is made in gilded repoussé toleware in the shape of a beautiful scallop shell. Within the bowl of the scallop is a finely engraved floral design.

The bowl sits on a gilded spelter stand with 3 scrolled and curled acanthus leaf legs. One of the legs is slightly longer than the other two to allow the bowl to tip slightly forward at an elegant angle - just lovely!

The dish is in good antique condition. When doing the close photography we noticed that the tip of one of the scrolls on a leg was missing (please see photos) but this is not visible during normal use. The gilding has mellowed with the passage of time but the toleware still retains a wonderful golden glow.

The dish measures :- 11 cm (4.25 inches) at it's highest x 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 22.5 cm (8.8 inches) long.

A beautiful dish with a myriad of uses and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe.

N.B. The items with which it is photographed are not included.
