B1620 - SOLDThis is a superb antique French bon bon / trinket dish dating from the 1800's. It oozes style and grandeur and is as decorative as it is useful. The dish itself is made of fabulous figured glass. The glass is thick and heavy and full of the bubbles and imperfections characteristic of only really old glass. The dish has a superb gilded spelter lid with a handle. It sits on collar which runs around the neck of the jar. Both the lid and the collar have a decorative scrolled acanthus leaf design. The gilding has mellowed to an atmospheric old gold hue. The dish is a substantial piece weighing nearly 1 kg. It is good antique condition with no chips to the glass. It measures :- 15.5 cm (8.1 inches) wide x 10 cm (4 inches) deep x 14.5 cm (5.75 inches) high to the top of the handle. Whether filled with bon bons and displayed on a side table or filled with jewellery on a dressing table this beautiful dish would certainly add a château chic touch to a salon or boudoir. A delightful dish to use and enjoy and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe! Please hover cursor over picture for magnified detail and click on picture for enlarged photo.
