B1083 - Superb Pair Antique French Gilded Spelter Church Pricket Candlesticks, 19th Century

This is a superb pair of antique French church pricket candlesticks dating from the 19th Century. They would have stood on the church altar but would now make a very stylish addition to a château chic interior.

They are very decorative and detailed. They sit on three sturdy feet. The base and column have an intricate ivy leaf design and the bobeche have a swirling design and are edged with little pinecones.

The candlesticks are made of spelter and are gilded. The gilding has mellowed and patinated over the years to wonderful effect.

Whether placed on a simple country buffet or a grand enfilade these gorgeous candlesticks will look stunning.

Each candlestick measures :- H 36 cm (14 inches) to the top of the spike x 14 cm (5.5 inches) along one side of the base.
