B1140 - Divine Antique French Hand Painted Pink Silk Lingerie Case, Hirondelle & Flowers

This delicate confection is a divine antique French lingerie case. It is plumptiously padded and made in the finest & palest shell pink silk. The top is beautifully hand painted with an exquisite scene.

The painting is of a gorgeous spray of pink & white carnations above which a little hirondelle hovers. In the distance is the shimmering blue of water. The scene is utterly charming and the painting beautifully executed.

The case is trimmed with pale pink cord and opens up to reveal a cream silk interior. There was a pale pink silk ribbon tie, now frayed with the passage of time.

The case is in good antique condition. There is a little fraying to the edges of the cream silk interior and one tiny area of wear in the top right hand corner of the painted scene but nothing to detract from this beautiful piece.

In it's folded position the case measures :- 34 cm (13.3 inches) high x 26 cm (10.25 inches) wide.
