B1201 - SOLD

This is an amazing pair of antique French gilded brass picture frames dating from the 19th Century. They would have originally come from a church and could now be incorporated into interiors projects as architectural features. They would be superb fitted with a piece of old mirrored glass or could perhaps form the focal point on a mantel piece each with a special picture. We also have a larger one (B1200) listed in our other items which would look stunning with these displayed to either side, please see photos.

The frames are made of brass and are weighty pieces . They are fashioned to look like the outside of a church or cathedral. Each has 3 spires and to either side is a winged angel adorned in a robe. The frames are absolutely covered in architectural church detail and are fabulous!

On the back of the frames are fittings to the corners to hold their contents. One of the frames has lost one of these fittings. The same frame has also got a very slightly twisted spire which is stable and does not detract from the aesthetics of the lovely piece.

The gilding on the brass has mellowed over the years to a dramatic dark hue.

The frames are sturdy and measure :-  42.5 cm (16.75 inches) high x 23 cm (9 inches) wide.
The display aperture is :- 18.75 cm (7.4 inches) high x 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide.

A stunningly unique pair of frames for a special niche. It is from a collection of carefully selected antique and vintage French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'!

N.B. The prints in the frames are for display only and are not included.
