B1212 - SOLDThis is a magnificent antique French gilded brass picture frame dating from the 1800's. We have left it as we found it displaying a charming print but this could of course be changed to one's own photo.
The frame is very decorative. It is a very heavy and substantial piece, weighing over 1.5 kg. It is of excellent quality and is cast in wonderful detail. It has a beautiful bow and ribbon tail crest. From the knot of the bow glorious fringed and tasselled swags drape and fall to either side. The aperture for the photo is framed with heavy beading.
The frame stands on decorative feet and has a very sturdy stand. The gilding on the brass has mellowed and patinated over the years to perfection, there is even a little verdigris. The glass is clear.
The frame measures 32 cm (12.5 inches) high x 21 cm (8.25 inches) wide and is 19 cm (7.5 inches) deep when on it's stand.
The photo display area is 13 cm (5 inches) high x 9.5 cm (3.75 inches) wide.
