B1247 - SOLD

This is an exquisite antique French hand made lace and embroidered linen tablecloth dating from the 1800's. It was probably made for a bride's trousseau.

It is made in a fabulous crisp snowy white linen. There is a scalloped band of hand made ribbon and drawn thread  lacework around the perimeter of the cloth and a further rectangular frame of this within. Inside this frame are 3 scalloped ovals of the lacework each containing a delightful hand embroidered flower and tendril vignette. The rest of the tablecloth ia also extensively embroidered.

The tablecloth is in excellent antique condition. It almost looks like it has never been used except that there is just one 1.5 cm (half inch) nibble where the ribbonwork meets the linen (please see photos) and one or two minor pulls in the lacework which one would have to search to find.

The tablecloth measures :- 244 cm (8 ft) long x 170 cm ( 5 ft 7 inches) wide.

A divine antique French linen and lace textile to add a très jolie touch to a salle à manger and another fabulous antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe.
