B1444 - Amazing Antique French Studded Leather Trinket / Jewellery / Treasure Box, Trunk

This amazing antique French studded box would be perfect for all sorts of treasure from jewels to love letters and would look equally at home in a boudoir or on a gentleman's dressing stand.

The box is made in wood and is covered in leather decorated with a myriad of metal studs.

The box sits on 4 sturdy wooden feet. There is a metal carrying handle to either side.

The lid of the box has a central decorative brass plaque. The centre of the plaque is porcelain and has a vignette of an 18th Century pair of lovers depicted in glorious colour. The lid has a hasp which fits over a stay on the base of the box.

The lid lifts up to reveal a red baize interior.

The box is sturdy. The metal fittings have patinated and the leather worn a little over the years but this just adds even more character to this amazing box.

It measures :- 25.5 cm (10 inches) wide x 17 cm (6.75 inches) deep x 15 cm (5.9 inches) high including the feet.
