This is a divine panel of antique hand embroidered Chinese silk with birds, flowers & butterflies. The silk is sumptuous and shiny and is in a stunning shade of saffron yellow. The workmanship in the stitching is superb.

Standing on the ground at the base of the design are two fantastic long beaked birds. Burgeoning up from beside them is a wonderful tree of life with a plethora of different flowers and leaves. The colours are stunning shades of pink, lilac, lemon, red, blue, coral and green which look superb against the saffron background. Fluttering around this wondrous scene are 6 butterflies and 2 birds.

The stitchwork is fantastic. The central red flower and the yellow bird to the right are padded to give a three dimensional effect. The bird also has a chenille effect to it's body. We have shown almost as many photos of the back of the piece as the front to demonstrate the quality of the work.

The top and bottom have raw edges, the sides have a selvedge. The top and bottom could perhaps be finished with a batten to enable the panel to be a wall hanging.

The piece is in very good antique condition. There is one small nick to the right hand side and one or two extremely light marks (please see photos).

The panel measures :- 125 cm (4 ft 1.25 inches) high x 60 cm (23.6 inches) wide.
