B1593 - SOLDThis is an exquisite antique French hand worked needlepoint tapestry dating from the early 1900's. It is fabulously worked in amazing detail in wool and silk and depicts a beautiful 18th Century romantic scene. The panel is unused and would be gorgeous incorporated into any number of interiors projects. It could be framed, or made into a cushion or used to cover the backrest of a salon chair. We also have the pair to this, B1594, listed in our other items. The panel depicts a beautiful romantic couple in 18th Century costume. The scene has a divine blue bow & ribbon tail crest and is framed with gorgeous scrolls, curls and flowers in delicious shades of coral, pink, lilac and green. Our lovers are very sensual. The scene is set in a garden and the boy gently tickles the girl's lips with a blade of grass. It is full of sublime imagery and detail. See the tiny birdcage in the tree and the bonnet on the grass. The workmanship and detail on the panel is astonishing. I cannot even begin to count the stitches used to depict the faces and skin tones of our lovers. The panel is in excellent condition and has never been used. It measures approx. : - 57 cm (22.5 inches) high x 46 cm (18 inches) wide.
