B1722 - Magnificent PAIR Antique French Pineapple Stair Newel Finials, Boule D' Escalier

This is a magnificent pair of antique French stair newel post finials (Boule d'Escalier) dating from the 19th Century. They must have come from a very grand château staircase and would now certainly add the perfect authentic finishing touch to a hall or landing.

The finials are cast in gilded metal in a 'pineapple' shape. They are large and substantial each one weighing over 2 kg. The gilding is still bright and beautiful with some areas of distressing (please see photos).

Each finial has a substantial screw for fixing.

They each measure:- 21 cm (8.25 inches) high (not including the screw) x approx. 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide. The base plate is 8 cm (3.1 inches) in diameter.
