This is a beautiful antique French hand made cushion dating around 1920. It is absolutely stunning and the workmanship amazing.

The cushion is round in shape and is made in a gorgeous silk now mellowed with the passage of time to a sublime shade of green. The silk is gently gathered around the edge of the cushion giving it a soft and plumptious look

Over the silk is a cut out rose and leaf appliqué in a biscuit coloured linen. The flowers and leaves are beautifully edged and defined with embroidery in red and green thread.

The cushion is backed with a dark green fine cotton textile. It is not overly filled which allows it to drape over the back of a chair.

The cushion has, as one would expect, acquired some characteristics of age which do not detract from it's overall beauty . The silk has darkened - the original colour can be seen in the folds of the gathers. There are a few minor marks and one small area of wear to the silk (please see photos) but nothing to draw the eye.

The cushion measures approx :- 54 cm (21.25 inches) in diameter  x 8 cm (3.1 inches) deep.

This is a gorgeous cushion to add an authentic 1920's finishing touch and another divine antique French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
