B1841 - SOLD

This is a gorgeous antique French carved wood mount / pediment dating from the 19th Century. It is very architectural and would look superb on a wall, perhaps over a painting, or would be perfect as a central point from which to hang drapes, perhaps over a bed as a ciel de lit.

The pediment has a central shell above which is a magnificent scrolled crest  from which acanthus leaves cascade to either side ending in a curled flourish at each of the 'shoulders'.

The gilding on the pediment has a fabulous antique hue.

The pediment is sturdy. It has acquired a few chips and minor repairs over the years but these are stable and do not draw the eye.

The pediment measures:- 44 cm (17.3 inches) wide x approx. 25 cm (9.8 inches) high. It has a loop on the back for hanging purposes.
