B1855 - Exquisite Panel Antique French Lyon Silk Brocade & Damask Textile, 19th Century

This is a panel of exquisite antique French Lyon silk brocade & damask textile dating from the 19th Century. It's quality and design are quite exceptional.

The damask and brocade are in alternating bands. The damask is in a sublime shade of teal and has a lovely flower and leaf tendril design. The brocade has an antique cream moiré background upon which are flower medallions with a flower garland crest and swags beneath. The medallions are vertically linked with a silken cord up which more tiny flowers wend - just lovely.

The textile is wonderfully crisp. It is in marvelous antique condition and appears to be unused. There is a light storage mark on the back where it has been folded (please see photos).

The panel measures :- 130 cm (4 ft 3.2 inches) wide x 143 cm (4 ft 8.25 inches ) long.

It is interesting to note that all of the edges of the panel are formed by selvedges and that it was therefore woven this size and has not been cut.
