This is a magnificent single antique French gilded brass curtain tie / hold back in the Empire style and dating from about 1880.

It is very grand and would take a substantial curtain.

It is of fabulous quality with good weight and excellent detail and definition to the casting of the metal.

The fascia of the hook has an acanthus leaf crest below which is a beautiful rose and flower garland swag. On the back of the hook is an impressive acanthus leaf finial.

The tie back has a strap on the reverse of the back plate and can be fixed by hanging it on a hook.

It measures :- H 15 cm (6 inches) x W 5 cm (2 inches) x D 19 cm (7.5 inches).
