B1527 - SOLD

This is a fantastic antique French picture frame with a stand dating from the 1800's. It would be the perfect way to display a cherished photo. It currently holds an old photograph of a gentleman with a magnificent moustache but this could, of course, be changed.

It is made in spelter in a dramatic shade of dark grey. It has a gorgeous cherub crest from which a plethora of acanthus leaf scrolls and curls descend down each side of the frame and end in a curled foot. Among the scrolls are pieces of fruit. At the base of the glass plate is a swag with 2 roses - just beautiful!

The frame has a sturdy stand. On the back of the frame is a sliding plate for inserting the photo. The plate is held in place by a metal tab and can be moved by gently bending the tab back.

The frame is in good antique condition. The back plate has some patination.

The frame measures :- 22 cm (8.6 inches) high x 14.25 cm (5.6 inches) wide.
The aperture measures :- 8.3 cm (3.25 inches) high x 5.5 cm (2.1 inches) wide.

A gorgeous frame to add a château chic finishing touch to a room. It is from a carefully selected collection of antique French decorative pieces from 'La Belle Étoffe'!
