This is a superb antique French gilded picture frame with a stand dating from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. It currently holds a charming old photograph of two splendid chaps playing cards and drinking beer but this could, of course, be changed.
It is made in gilded metal and is a weighty and substantial piece. It has a gorgeous scrolled crest with flower garland detail. There is further flower detail to the sides and each foot is a scrolled flourish - just lovely.
On the back of the frame is a sliding plate for inserting the photo and here we find the sturdy stand.
The frame and it's glass are in good antique condition. The gilding has mellowed to a lovely antique hue.
The frame measures :- 20 cm (8 inches) high x 12 cm (4.75 inches) wide.
The aperture measures :- 13 cm (5.25 inches) high x 8.5 cm (3.4 inches) wide.
