B1797 - Fabulous Vintage French Round Brass Jewellery Box, 'Etched' Lid Charming Scene

This is a fabulous vintage French brass jewel box. It is of superb quality. It is of an excellent size and would look divine on a dressing table.

It is round in shape and made in brass. The lid has a charming 19th Century 'etched' scene of a grandfather playing tug of war with his grandchildren. It has the title 'LE DÉFI AU GRAND PÉRE' D'APRÉS MORGAN. The detail in the design is astonishing - the little girls and dog look almost three dimensional.

The lid lifts up to reveal an interior lined with a sumptuous cotton velvet in a sublime shade of cherry red.

There is a lovely scrolled flower and leaf design around the side of the box.

The box is in very good vintage condition. The lining is lovely and clean.

It measures :-  14 cms (5.5 inches) diameter x 4.4 cm (1.7 inches) high.
