This is an impressive vintage French tapestry wall hanging with a 17th Century hunting scene. It dates from the early to mid 1900's. It is very atmospheric and would be the perfect château chic finishing touch to a country house interior.

It depicts a stunning scene of  a nobleman and women at a hunt. They are riding fine steeds and are accompanied by their huntsman and dogs.

They are superbly attired and are surrounded by a profusion of trees and lush vegetation.

The scene is framed by a beautiful border of roses and flowers.

The greens and browns of the vegetation dominate the colour palette of the tapestry with highlights of pinks and reds in the costumes.

The tapestry is woven in cotton. It is very thick and has a padded appearance which gives relief and definition to the subject matter. It is in good vintage condition with just one minor pull (please see photos).

There are tabs at the top of the tapestry to take a pole.

The tapestry measures :- 195 cm (6 ft 4.75 inches) high not including the tabs x 115 cm (3 ft 9.25 inches) wide. The tabs are 7 cm (2.75 inches) high.

A fantastic tapestry to add an authentic château chic statement to a room and another divine vintage French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
