B1910 - SOLD

This is a fabulous antique French gilded spelter and glass bon bon / trinket dish dating from the 1800's. It oozes style and grandeur and is as decorative as it is useful.

The dish itself is made of gorgeous thick glass with cut glass detail to all 4 sides. The glass is full of all the marvelous bubbles and imperfections only to be found in really old glass.

The dish sits on a decorative scrolled acanthus leaf design base with 4 cute feet.

At the top is a superb gilded lid and handle. The handle is very decorative with curvaceous acanthus leaf scrolls. It attaches to a collar that runs around the neck of the jar and reflects the design of the base.

The dish is a substantial piece weighing over 1 kg. It is good antique condition. The gilding on the spelter has mellowed over the years to an antique hue.

The dish measures :- 17 cm (6.7 inches) wide x 9.75 cm (3.8 inches) deep x 17.5 cm (6.8 inches) high with the handle down.

Whether filled with bon bons and displayed on a side table or filled with jewellery on a dressing table this beautiful dish would certainly add a château chic touch to a salon or boudoir.

A delightful dish to use and enjoy and another divine antique French brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!

N.B. The jewellery & roses are for display only.
