B1936 - SOLD

This is a beautiful antique French boutis quilt dating from the 19th Century. It would look superb on a bed or would make a lovely throw for a chair or sofa.

The top of the quilt is made in a gorgeous cotton cretonne textile. It has a cream background with a magnolia flower design in shades of peach and coral. The reverse of the quilt is in a printed cotton with a pink seersucker design.

The quilt has a wool interlining and is lovely and snuggly. It is easy to handle and not too heavy.

The boutis work has been beautifully executed. We have left the quilt as we found it. It is in good antique condition with just a few very minor speck marks (please see photos) to the cretonne, which blend into the design. There is one small repair to the reverse.

The quilt measures:- 166.5 cm (5ft 5.5 inches) long x 119 cm (3 ft 10.75 inches) wide.

A truly beautiful quilt to add an authentic antique finishing touch and another superb French textile find from La Belle Étoffe.
