B1892 - Fantastic Vintage French Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, Medieval Harvesting Scene

This is a fantastic vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It is of superb quality and is in excellent vintage condition. It is thick and plumptious and is woven in fabulous detail and colour. It would add a fabulous finishing touch to a country house home.

The scene is an idyllic Medieval rural setting over which Demeter, the Greek goddess of fertility, oversees the harvest of the wheat and fruits. The scene is a feast for the eyes and the detail is amazing - see the tools and the vines growing up the trees.

All this splendour is surrounded by a border of fruit and leaves.

The colours are gorgeous shades of green, red , ochre and teal.

The weaving of the tapestry is of excellent quality and incorporates texture to add a 3 dimensional quality. The tapestry is thick and heavy (it weighs over 4 kg) and is in excellent vintage condition.

It is lined and has metal fixtures on the back for hanging purposes.

It measures :- 167 cm (5 ft 5.75 inches) wide x 127 cm (4 ft 2 inches ) high.
