This is a superb antique French tapestry wall hanging dating from the early 1900's. It is of excellent size and has a stunning 18th Century Italian riverside scene. It is a feast for the eyes and would create a fantastic focal point in a room.

In the background is a gorgeous mountain vista with a village and a magnificent hilltop palazzo. To the foreground, by the riverside, a group of people stop to chat while going about their daily business. They stand amongst fabulous trees which tower above them. The colours are subtle hues.

Around this splendour is a gorgeous sewn border with a leaf and peony design.

The tapestry is of excellent quality. It is tightly woven in cotton in amazing detail. It is lined and has metal rings at the top for hanging purposes.

It is in good antique condition. There are a few minor marks which blend into the design and do not draw the eye (please see photos). The lining shows marks which of course will not show when hung. The tapestry has not been dry cleaned. 

The tapestry measures :- 184 cm (6ft 0.5 inches) wide x 141 cm (4ft 7.5 inches) high.
