B1914 -SOLD

This fabulous pair of two armed antique French candle wall sconces would certainly add a château chic finishing touch to a room.

They are made in gilded spelter. The backplate has a central oval bevelled mirror with two winged cherubs above and an angel to either side. Beneath the mirror are flower garland and ribbon swags.

The two arms branch out from the backplate and have delicate scrolled acanthus leaf detail.  The candle cups sit on decorative bobeche.

There is a loop on the back of each sconce for hanging on a wall.

The sconces were once wired for electricity. There is a hole in each bobeche to take a wire.

The sconces are in sturdy antique condition. The gilding has patinated over the years and the glass plate has foxed but this just adds character to these stunning pieces. There is fine scratch on one of the mirrors and a fine scroll on one of the arms has a crack (please see photos) but this is stable and does not affect the sturdiness of the piece.

Each sconce measures  :- 34.5 cm (13.5 inches) high x 16.5 cm (6.5 inches) wide x approx 9 cm (3.5 inches) deep.

These superb candle wall sconces are from a carefully selected collection of gorgeous antique French decorative pieces at 'La Belle Étoffe'.

N.B. The candles are not included.
