B1945 - SOLDThis is a fabulous large vintage French tapestry wall hanging dating from the mid 1900's. It is woven with an 18th Century hunting scene. It is a very atmospheric piece and would look superb in a country house home.
It is of good quality and is woven in cotton in wonderful colour and detail.
To the background is a sublime bucolic vista with hillside cháteaux and magnificent trees. A river runs through the middle of the scene and the huntsmen with their horns and dogs are gathered to the foreground. The scene is restful to view but with plenty of action to draw the eye.
Around this glorious scene is a narrow border.
The colours are soft greens, browns, and ochres with highlights of blue and red in the costumes.
The tapestry is in good vintage condition. It has metal rings sewn on the back for hanging purposes.
It measures :- 179 cm (5 ft 10.5 inches) wide x 143 cm (4 ft 8.25 inches) high.
