B2097 - SOLDThis is a fabulous large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from mid 1900's. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home. The scene has a magnificent château and a village in the background. A river wends it's way from the village and cascades into the foreground. All around are beautiful trees. To the foreground is lush vegetation among which are birds. See the hoopoe, pheasant and kingfisher. Around this splendour is a sewn border with a scrolled acanthus leaf design. The colours are atmospheric shades of ochre, green, teal & brown. The tapestry is finely woven in cotton. It is lined and has metal rings sewn on the back for hanging purposes. It is in good vintage condition. The tapestry measures :- 212 cm (6 ft 11.4 inches) wide x 149 cm (4 ft 10.6 inches) high. A fantastic large tapestry wall hanging to add a château chic statement to a room.
