This is a fabulous large vintage French woven tapestry wall hanging dating from  mid 1900's. It has a bucolic rural scene and is after an 18th Century 'Verdure' Aubusson tapestry. It would add a fabulous château chic finishing touch and would look superb in a country house home.

The scene is a beautiful woodland with magnificent trees and a profusion of lush vegetation. There is a château in the background and a pool of water to the foreground beside which a charming pheasant stands.

The colours are subtle shades of ochre, green, teal & brown slightly faded with the passage of time.

The tapestry is woven in cotton and is lined.

It is in good vintage condition. There are some watermarks on the lining (please see photos) but of course these do not show when the tapestry is hung. There are some small marks along the top of the front of the tapestry where it was once tacked to a batten.

The tapestry measures :- 181 cm (5 ft 11.2 inches) wide x 177 cm (5 ft 9.6 inches) high.
