This is a stunning antique French planter / jardinière dating from the 1800's.

It would be perfect to take a couple of cyclamen and would sit beautifully on a window ledge or shelf.

The jardinière is highly decorative and is made of zinc. It sits on scrolled feet and has beautiful scrolled handles decorated with grapes and leaves. The sides have a central crest of the head of Dionysus, the Greek god of  wine and fertility. His head is adorned with grapes and vine leaves and he has a magnificent moustache and beard. Beneath him further vines trail to either side.

Inside the jardinière is lined with thick glass in a gorgeous shade of dark blue.

The jardinière is a weighty piece. The zinc has mellowed over the years to a dramatic dark grey finish with pearlescent highlights that catch the light beautifully.

The jardinière is in good condition and would add a gorgeous finishing touch to a château chic interior.

It measures :- H 14 cm (5.5 inches) x W 30 cm (12 inches) x D 11 cm (4.25 inches).
