This is a gorgeous pair of antique French carved oak mounts / plinths dating from the 19th Century. They may have originally have come from a church or a grand château.

They are carved from oak rich in colour and graining and have been waxed. On the front of each plinth is a magnificent carved acanthus leaf with two fabulous scrolls. Beneath the acanthus leaf  hang stunning flower garlands carved in wonderful detail.

The plinths are a definite pair with opposing features - the curl within the two scrolls faces that on the other plinth. If you look carefully though you will see subtle differences between the plinths which gives credence to their hand carved origins.

The plinths are as beautiful from the side as the front. The carving has been beautifully executed to give us stunning three dimensional architectural pieces.

They are substantial and have the weight to display all manner of items in splendour.

Each plinth measures 25 cm (9.75 inches) high x 19 cm (7.5 inches) wide x 13.5 cm (5.25 inches) deep at the top.

A fabulous pair of plinths to add a château chic finishing touch and another divine antique French find from La Belle Étoffe.
