This is a gorgeous antique French ciel de lit / bed couronne or bed canopy dating from the 19th Century. It would make the perfect decorative centre piece from which to hang drapes above a bed.

It has an almost circular mahogany frame. To the front is a carved crest with trailing flower garlands to either side. The wood has a rich dark hue.

There are two holes at the back for fixing to a wall and a metal loop to the front. Within the frame are hooks to take the drapes.

The ciel de lit is sturdy and measures :- W 49 cm (19.25 inches) x D 44.25 cm (17.4 inches) x H 10.5 cm (4.1 inches). It weighs 1.65 kg.

This is a divine bed canopy to add an authentic château chic finishing touch to a boudoir and another fabulous antique French find from La Belle Étoffe!
