This is a gorgeous antique French plaster statue in the Art Nouveau style and dating about 1900.

The subject is a touching mother and child scene. The mother sits on a stool. Her hair is beautifully coiffed and she wears a stunning plunge back gown which falls in swathes around her legs.

Upon her knees and in her arms is her child, into whose face she gazes with adoration - just charming.

The statue is painted in an atmospheric ochre with highlights of red on the mother and child's lips.

The statue is in good antique condition. There are one or two touch ups to the paint which are not recent and blend in to the overall patination perfectly.

The statue measures approx :- 34 cm ( 13.3 inches) high x 18 cm (7 inches) deep x 17 cm (6.7 inches) wide.

This is a gorgeous statue to add an authentic antique French finishing touch and another divine brocante find from La Belle Étoffe!
