B2154 - Stunning Vintage French Woven Tapestry Wall Hanging, 18th Century Hunting Scene

This is a stunning vintage French tapestry wall hanging dated 1976. It is woven with an 18th Century hunting scene and is entitled 'Chasse Louis XV'. It is a very atmospheric piece and would look superb in a country house home.

It is of good quality and is woven in cotton in wonderful colour and detail.

To the background is a sublime hillside vista with a village on a magnificent bridge beneath which a river cascades. To the foreground we have our hunters, some on foot and some on horseback. They wear stunning costumes in blue and claret. To the centre of the scene are 2 fabulous trees and the foreground has flowers and lush vegetation.

Around this glorious scene is a narrow scrolled integral border.

The tapestry is lined with a pink cotton textile and has rings sewn on the back for hanging purposes. It is in good vintage condition, there are just a few marks on the lining.

It measures :- 187.5 cm (6 ft 1.8 inches) wide x 122 cm (4 ft) high.
