B2161 - Stunning Large Vintage French Printed Linen Wall Hanging, Tapestry Hunting Scene

This is a stunning large vintage French wall hanging dating from the mid 20th Century. It has a 16th Century hunting scene, inspired by an ancient Aubusson tapestry, printed on linen . It would be a fabulous addition to an interior whether it be a hyper modern apartment or a period country house.

The scene is incredibly detailed. It is set in a forest where a hunt is taking place. There is plenty of action with dogs and men pursuing fabulous stags through the trees.

To the top and sides is a border of leaves and flowers and to the bottom is a frieze featuring mythological characters.

The colours are dramatic browns and navy blues with touches of red and bright blue in the costumes - just stunning.

The wall hanging has a hessian lining. On the back are metal fixtures for hanging purposes. It is in good vintage condition.

The wall hanging measures :- 186 cm (6 ft 1.2 inches) wide x 133 cm (4 ft 4.3 inches ) high.
