B2169 - Fabulous Huge Vintage French Printed Linen 'Tapestry' Wall Hanging, 'Le Nid'

This is a stunning huge vintage French 'Editions D'Art De Rambouillet' wall hanging dating from the 1970's. It is a reproduction of an 18th Century Beauvais tapestry entitled 'Le Nid' and is printed on linen. The original tapestry is hanging in the Hôtel de Rohan in Paris.

The scene depicts a charming gathering of characters in an idyllic garden setting. The characters wear beautiful clothes and are surrounded by their animals. Behind them is an architectural fountain with water falling into a pool

Around this splendour is a sewn border with flowers and bows.

The wall hanging is of superb quality. The textile is a heavy textured linen which hangs beautifully. The scene is printed onto the linen by a silkscreen process. The colours and detail are amazing!

The wall hanging is in good vintage condition. It is lined and has metal fixtures on the back for hanging purposes.

It measures :- 245 cm (8 ft 0.4 inches) wide x 186 cm (6 ft 1.2 inches) high.
