B2170 - Fantastic Large Vintage French Tapestry Wall Hanging, 17th Century Hunting Scene

This is a fantastic large vintage French tapestry wall hanging with a 17th Century hunting scene. It dates from the mid to late 1900's. It is very atmospheric and would be the perfect château chic finishing touch to a country house interior.

It depicts a stunning scene of noblemen and women at a hunt. They are riding fine steeds and are accompanied by their huntsmen and dogs.

They are superbly attired and are surrounded by a profusion of trees and lush vegetation.

The colours are stunning shades of green and ochre with red and claret in the costumes.

The tapestry is woven in wool. It is very thick and has a padded appearance which gives relief and definition to the subject matter.

It is in good vintage condition. The colours are still bright and beautiful.

There are metal rings sewn on the back for hanging purposes.

The tapestry measures :- 183 cm (6 ft ) wide x 130 cm (4 ft 3.1 inches) high.
