A026 - SOLD

This stunning antique French pediment would have originally been fixed above a château door. It dates from the 1800's and is very decorative.

It is made from carved mahogany in the Henri II style. The wood positively glows with colour and has been waxed.

All is in excellent condition. The carving is stunning and this is a very architectural piece. 

There is a beautiful central crest carved in wonderful detail and extending to either side of this is ribbon and laurel leaf garland detail.

The base of the pediment extends out considerably from the carving affording it impressive proportion.

This is a substantial and decorative piece that would add authentic chateau chic glamour to any home.

It could be returned to it's rightful place over a door but would also be fabulous as a central point from which to hang drapes, perhaps over a bed.

It measures 90.5 cm (35.5 inches) wide x 28 cm (8 inches) high x 2 cm (0.75 inches) deep at the bottom and 11.5 cm (4.5 inches) deep at the top.
